tiny actually eventful update #32
If I didn't happen check the code for, uhhhhhh, something or other this would've been yet another uneventful update. But! I actually did something and somehow let myself forget about it until recently!
Things I worked on during September:
- better z-sorting (that I prefer to call z-swapping even though it's technically z-pushing-forward) for isometric sprites, mostly done after staring at this awesome article/tutorial for many hours. My implementation of it is nowhere near as faithful, accurate and functional but it kinda sorta gets the job done for now, as evident by the footage below (without any alt text, apologies for that)
- uhhhhh i poked the code a couple of times to make it look good? idk
Now to figure out collisions and a primitive "event triggering" system to output some text in a message box upon walking up to a character and pressing A button. And also figure out a better solution for printing text on screen because the current one is even more broken than I thought. And maybe this October I could finally start working on a cool web page for the game.
That's it for the last month's update!
Edit: if for some reason you're unable to watch the video in this post (just like me, how is this even possible), you can view it here.
